Virgin Active back in the saddle for the 2023 Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg
Virgin Active South Africa’s second year as title sponsor of the iconic Ride Joburg cycling event solidifies the gym group’s commitment to exercise and wellness for every South African. The multi-year collaboration with the organiser, Faces Africa, includes a mountain biking and children’s ride component, as well as the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg road race.
This partnership extends an array of benefits to entrants all aimed at helping them as they prepare for the race. From securing safe weekend outride opportunities through Virgin Active Train Joburg rides, Virgin Active’s exclusive indoor cycling classes that simulate the route profile, , nutritional support, and cross-training opportunities like strength training and yoga to help with endurance, Virgin Active is providing an array of support for the riders.

The Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg features the highly popular 97-kilometer road race, drawing some of the world’s top cyclists and globally impressive participant numbers.
The event also encompasses subsidiary activities, including the 35-kilometer short route designed for less experienced riders, making the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg community more accessible. The event also hosts three mountain biking races at Steyn City, along with the kids’ race the weekend before, scheduled for the 11th and 12th of November.
