Johannesburg, South Africa – Comic Con Africa is back for its fifth iteration, and this year, the cosplay is bigger and better than ever!
From 22 to 25 September 2023, the Johannesburg Expo Centre (Nasrec) invites pop culture enthusiasts from across the country will gather at the heart of Johannesburg to showcase their fandom passion, craftsmanship, and love for all things geek culture.
The event will feature a variety of cosplay competitions, including the Comic Con Africa Championships of Cosplay, which welcomes fans that hand-craft character inspired outfits from scratch. And get this, the winner of this competition will have the honour of representing South Africa at the prestigious C2E2 in Chicago in April 2024!
But hold on, you don’t need to be a seasoned pro to shine at Comic Con Africa. Whether you’re a casual cosplayer or a dedicated fanatic, there’s a spot for you on the grand stage. There is a wide of activities, including captivating photo ops, immersive fan sessions, thrilling competitions, and so much more! There is also a dedicated casual competition for contestants younger than 13. The experience is tailored to everyone’s level of expertise.
