SUMMER 2023
MENSWEAR
Summer 2023 – Park in Bloom – is inspired by Amsterdam’s iconic Vondelpark, evolving the story first introduced for Spring 2023. From everyday looks to high summer silhouettes and new-season swimwear, the collection celebrates park life, seasonal fruits and the role of bees in nature. Radiating positivity, it unites fun florals and citrus prints, tennis artworks and workwear details with tie-dye colours and neutrals, delivering a modern summer wardrobe.
Combining the expected with the unexpected, Scotch & Soda’s signature menswear styles are juxtaposed with new-season details, illustrating the brand’s love of self-expression. Positive messages like ‘endless summer’ and placement artworks channelling nature – insects and wildflowers – amp up a twill overshirt. Unique floral graphics take various forms – a sunshine yellow and amazon green floral embroidery artwork is seen on an army hoodie, while an organic cotton felpa sweatshirt features a palm tree print across the chest. Palm trees come back as embroidered motifs throughout, such as on a white college cardigan with striped cuffs, collar and hem, inspired by classic tennis club outfits which nod to the park’s tennis players.
High summer styles pan out across the collection – a floral print linen-blend shirt with matching swimshorts, made with recycled polyester, are a bold take on summer dressing. Shirting and trousers reflect a laidback summer attitude – the Drift regular-fit tapered chinos are made with a linen blend and effortlessly pair with a relaxed-fit short-sleeved shirt. Swimshorts in a wide range of colours and prints, available in medium and long-length fits, are a seasonal highlight: from tennis club-inspired pastel
striped shorts, to solid colours, tie-dye and floral-printed styles.
Bright colours like cerise, turquoise, chilli red and amazon green are balanced out by modern neutrals – army, sand, banana and denim white. A cerise dip-dye cable-knit sweater, inspired by pieces from the brand’s archive, paired with tie-dye recycled polyester swim shorts make a statement. Towelling shirts in subtle army and banana tones, with a palm tree embroidery on the chest, and matching shorts are a cool monochrome look. New tie-dyes bring energy and playfulness with highlights including a blue sweatshirt, a multi-coloured linen-blend shirt and a navy zip-through lightweight jacket, with a tie-dyed hem.
Colours continue to flow through the season’s unifit Born to Love styles, made for all, and inspired by the Summer of Love – a celebration of unity, music, art and free spirits in 1967. With love as the main message, they include a variety of festival-inspired looks and loungewear with specially-designed artworks – flowers, yin-yangs and psychedelic prints, a modern nod to Bob Schnepf’s iconic posters.
‘Save the Bees’, a collection highlight, underlines the importance of bees for our ecosystems. Unique water-based artworks, featuring honeycombs, wildflowers, and the message ‘Plant a bee garden’, are seen on an undyed organic cotton hoodie, T-shirt and matching sweat shorts. The beekeeper and gardener are also celebrated – utility-inspired pieces such as a floral printed khaki field jacket and lightweight poplin bomber, with a floral artwork on the back, are key pieces.
The brand’s Amsterdam Blauw denim range is reworked to channel the lightness of summer. The Vert straight-fit jeans are seen in a light ‘touch of blue’ wash, with a bold tie-dye detail on the front pocket, and pair with a matching trucker jacket. Bringing a fun summer attitude, a denim workwear overshirt with craft embroideries and stitching, celebrates the brands love for unique details.
Eternal Blauw comes back as a limited-edition, retail-exclusive circular recycled denim capsule. All pieces are made from an exclusive fabric in combination with either 20% recycled fibres from unused Amsterdams Blauw denim or 30% post-consumer recycled cotton. The latter forms a part of the brand’s commitment to the Denim Deal – an Amsterdam-based international collaboration focused on making post-consumer recycling of textiles the new standard in the industry. Highlights include the Spirit unifit jeans, shorts and jacket patched with leftover premium fabrics, and made from 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled jeans leftover from previous Scotch & Soda collections. In addition to classic denim pieces, Eternal Blauw also includes knitwear made from recycled jeans.
