Milano – South African designers Italia

SA duo, House of Decorum visit Accademia Del Lusso School of fashion and design ahead of their fashion week studio showcase during Milan fashion week 2024.

This intercultural expedition between South African designers and the Italian fashion school is the beginning of many other partnerships which they will be forming in Europe to promote and share their culture, heritage and diversity to the world.

During their visit in Milan this week, the designers were met by Kseniia the design school manager, where they held discussions about the various courses offered to fashion students, pattern making skills for future designers, followed by the rich history of the school in moulding some of the world’s top fashion designers today. “This is a great opportunity for us to teach the world about our patterns as South Africans and the rich heritage behind our garments” said Mr Decorum.

Part of their visit to the school is to create intercultural exchange between the designers and the school’s fashion students. The designer couple also visited the school’s luxury lab based in Via Privata Chioggia-2.

Apart from showcasing on international runways, House of Decorum has been importing drago fabric from Italy for almost a decade now and this fabric is used to manufacture and produce luxury bespoke suits for men and women. They have a fashion warehouse in Johannesburg where they distribute this material around the country.
