Thirty Mrs South Africa hopefuls came one step closer to realising their dreams during the pageant’s 2024 semi-finalist showcase and finalist sashing ceremony on Friday, 05 July 2024 at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace. The activities were underscored by the night’s theme of ‘butterflies’ encapsulated in the hashtags #YourWingsAreReady and #YourTimeIsNow!
Mrs South Africa is the country’s premier female empowerment and development platform for married women between the ages 25 and 55. This renowned programme is designed to honour the courage, grace, and spirit of its contestants who come from diverse backgrounds from across South Africa, receiving a record number of entries this year.
“Our semi-finalists worked incredibly hard over the past few months, and it definitely showed on stage. Each has a remarkable story, and have shown extraordinary personal growth during their time with us. And while we could only take 30 contestants with us to the finals in November, the many friendships built over the past year will remain. Once you join the programme, you’re a part of the Mrs South Africa sisterhood for life,” says Joani Jacobs, CEO of Mrs South Africa.
Starting at 8pm on Friday, the official selection committee, Mrs South Africa’s board of directors, and the semi-finalists were introduced in a magical showcase of their poise, beauty, and accomplishments. The event was emceed by award-winning radio presenter and TV, film, and stage performer Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp, and reigning queen Tshego Gaelae shared a few encouraging words. The crowd was serenaded by the spectacular Mzansi Youth Choir. Thereafter, the ladies took to the stage again, this time adorned in elegant eveningwear, before the Top 30 finalists were finally announced and sashed.
The Top 30 ladies also participated in the acclaimed annual Mrs South Africa finalist workshop and photoshoot on Saturday, 06 July, and Sunday, 07 July, where they received motivating and helpful advice from guest speakers to guide them on the last leg of their pageant journey. This included the Mrs South Africa management team and a number of the pageant’s official sponsors. Finalists’ husbands also joined in some of the activities.
Next on the calendar for the Mrs South Africa sisterhood is a finalist lifestyle challenge, followed by pageant week, which will include the preliminary competitions and the final crowning on 15 November 2024.
