Lufthansa officially introduced its state-of-the-art Allegris seat cabins on flights to Cape Town, marking a significant milestone in an individual and premium travel experience for South Africa. This new product offering positions Cape Town as a destination for international travellers seeking enhanced comfort while also underscoring the city’s growing reputation as a sought-after destination for both tourism and business.

Under the name “Lufthansa Allegris”, a completely new travel experience is being created on long-haul routes. All Lufthansa travel classes from Economy to Premium Economy, Business and First Class are being given a new top product that is unparalleled in the market thanks to the variety of seats. Lufthansa will equip the first Allegris Airbus A350s with the new Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class, the same planes that will arrive in Cape Town yesterday and going forward.

The Lufthansa Group is investing 2.5 billion euros world-wide in product and service improvements by 2025 – exceeding all investments to date.

Offering Allegris cabins on nonstop Cape Town – Munich flights is expected to attract more tourists and business travellers seeking high-end cabin products. It is the first route to Africa where this new cabin design will be offered. This will further support and provide an economic push for Cape Town and the broader Western Cape region.

Rene Koinzack, Lufthansa’s Senior Director Sales Southern & East Africa, Nigeria, and Equatorial Guinea, emphasised how this introduction enhances Cape Town’s appeal: “The Allegris seat cabins represent a new level of quality and innovation that we believe will not only enhance the international travel experience for South African passengers but also position Cape Town as a key destination for premium travellers. We anticipate a positive shift in travel patterns with more South Africans choosing to fly internationally with us, while also attracting quality-oriented tourists from key global markets to our local tourism sector.”

Featuring spacious, adjustable seats to state-of-the-art entertainment systems, cutting-edge inflight entertainment, and private suites in Business Class, Allegris cabins cater to travellers seeking a first-class experience. Available in Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes, these cabins redefine long-haul travel.

Koinzack added: “As we continue to expand our offerings, Cape Town will remain a key market for Lufthansa. With the winter schedule, that just started today, we will increase our connections for both leisure and business travellers per week from 15 to 17, operated by Lufthansa, SWISS and Edelweiss. . Our goal is to ensure that Cape Town becomes a premier gateway to Africa for our international passengers.”
