Road tripping along the Panorama Route...

The wanderlust bug has hit you hard and a local trip will certainly calm the travel itch so why not pack up the car, grab some good tunes, take a Sho’t Left and go explore the majestic panorama route.  Only a 6-hour drive from Johannesburg, this perfect road trip will take you to some of the most incredible sites across SA. We suggest a two-night excursion will suffice in order for you to experience the route in all its glory.

Waterfalls to Behold

Once you put the pedal to the metal be sure to stop and view at least one of these three iconic waterfalls: Lisbon Falls, Berlin Falls and Mac Mac Falls. You will experience unique views, undeniable beauty & diverse landscapes at every stop. Don’t forget to take advantage of the curio extravaganza at Mac Mac falls, with trinkets, beads and carvings available in all shapes and sizes.

This is the perfect time for that obligatory selfie with jaw dropping background views, no filter needed…

Blyde River Canyon

Now that you’re on the open road take a Sho’t Left and head over our very own canyon in SA, this is one site not to be missed. Only 60km from Graskop this geological landmark is the third largest canyon in the world, with the most breathtaking views. While at the canyon keep an eye out for the Three Rondavels or Three Sisters. These three circular spirals of dolomite can be seen rising from a mountain surrounding the canyon.

Bourke’s Luck Potholes

Pull into Bourke’s Luck Potholes and marvel at the extravagant geological formations. Get a great view of the potholes from the suspension bridges that look over the unreal, fantasy looking brackish water. There are also fantastic little crevasses where you can rest those weary travelling feet and splash around so don’t forget to bring a towel and take in the gentle sounds of the fall.

God’s Window

It’s about time you stretch those legs and make a compulsory stop at God’s Window. The name speaks for itself as the viewpoint at 900 meters high captures the valley of green splendour that seems to go on forever. This is the perfect time for that obligatory selfie with jaw dropping background views, no filter needed. Be sure to wear decent shoes as the walk to the viewpoint is a steep 15-minute trek but it’s worth the effort.

If you’re looking for a scenic road trip with views to die for and sites that will blow your mind then the Panorama Route is what you need. Take a Sho’t Left, jump into your vehicle, grab some friends, family or go at it solo because this is a trip to sooth your travelling soul.
