Bringing True Mexican Magic to Montecasino!
There is a new Mexican in town and she goes by the name La Rosa. Having just opened their second store at Monte Casino, the franchise is set for big things because who can resist a good plate of Mexican food and a couple of ice cold margaritas.
The 300-seater across from the Pieter Toerien Theatre is visually exquisite featuring big Mexican art murals, “sugar skulls” (Cavalera), mosaic and contemporary folk art images. The painting above the men’s urinal is particularly “entertaining”.
The food is authentic and if they can maintain good levels of service and quality they will build a loyal following much like the original Cantina Tequila of the 90’s in Catherine Street Brixton.
An intriguing (and dangerous) element for those of us with weak resistance, is the tequila bar and menu featuring an enviable selection of proper quality tequilas ranging from R30 – R600 a shot. Ask Ryan for a custom tasting – he is a passionate purveyor of this misunderstood and abused varietal and super knowledgeable on the topic.
