The fashion world descended upon Melrose Arch for the highly anticipated Day 3 of SA Fashion Week, and let me tell you, the atmosphere was electric! With limited seating available, each seat became a coveted spot for fashion enthusiasts, celebrities, and media moguls alike, all buzzing with excitement to witness the incredible talent of our local designers.

As I settled in, I couldn’t help but feel honoured to be among the lucky few, ready to soak in the passion and creativity that South Africa has to offer. The collections presented were nothing short of spectacular, proving that our designers can easily hold their own against the likes of Milan and Moscow this year.

Among the standout collections, I was particularly taken by Nakedape, with their bold, innovative designs, and House of Ole, which captivated with its striking silhouettes, NGINGU (See video Above)as well as ImprintZA and Sober Design House also leaving a lasting impression, showcasing the depth of talent flourishing in our homegrown fashion scene.

One of the most exciting moments of the night was the glamorous arrival of the fabulous Unathi Nkayi. Dressed to impress, she turned heads as she made her entrance. But what truly caught my attention was the vehicle she arrived in—a sleek, stunning Mercedes Benz that seemed to be a custom creation unlike anything I’ve seen before! My journalist instincts kicked in, and I couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to this story. Was it a gift? A collaboration? Unathi, ever the enigma, simply smiled and offered no clues.

I also had the pleasure of chatting with the ever-stunning Mel Bala, whose elegance shines just as brightly off the tv as it does on it.

All in all, Joburgstyle deemed this event a resounding success! We’re eagerly looking forward to showcasing some of these talented local designers in our upcoming print edition in December. As always, we stand proudly in support of South Africa’s vibrant fashion scene! 🇿🇦

Stay tuned for more updates, and remember—fashion is not just about clothes; it’s about telling a story, and our designers are writing some of the best chapters yet!
